Serving Washington Since 1997

Doing business since 1997, we are proud of the thousands of students who have come through our programs. Locally owned and operated, we look forward to continuing to serve the Tri-Cities and Yakima areas for many years to come

Two Fundamental Principles

Our philosophy is based on two Fundamental Principles:

  • With correct instruction and practice, students can be successful in driving.
  • Obtaining a license should be an enjoyable experience... IT SHOULD BE FUN!

What They Say About Us

"The instructor helped us by telling stories and making it fun." - student from Eisenhower High

"I felt welcomed in class." - student from Richland High

"I think I am a better driver now that I have gone through Parkside." - student from Selah High

Our Instructors

Here at Parkside our instructors believe in student success. We have a thorough knowledge of the road laws and driving techniques. Our instructors teach practical and theoretical driving skills in a friendly, responsible way. We provide students with ideas for improving driving skills, and explain the basic mechanical working of a vehicle.

Ben Archibald

Ben studied driver education and health sciences at Brigham Young University and enjoys seeing students improve as they develop their understanding and driving skills. A caring, patient instructor, Ben strives to help each student succeed in the classroom and behind the wheel. When he's not teaching from our Richland classroom he enjoys spending time with his wife and triplet daughters and playing football.

Jennifer Beddard

Jennifer Beddard graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a degree in Family Consumer Science and currently works as a substitute teacher for several of the school districts in the Yakima Valley. Additionally, Jennifer and her husband, Scott, are working with her parents in the family's seasonal business. Her other interests include: baking, sewing, reading, playing sports and games, doing Turbo Jam, and spending time with her husband, their families and friends.

Ken Fletcher

Ken joined the Parkside team in 2007, bringing with him years of experience in theater. Ken enjoys watching the confidence level of students grow week by week and finds satisfaction in knowing that he is teaching students skills that will be used for the rest of their lives. He stays involved in theater productions in his free time, and enjoys reading, sports, and computers.

Ashley Hammond

Graduated as a WSU Cougar with a BA in Advertising and Business and moved to Yakima in early 2005 with her husband and daughter. Ashley is great at working with teens and finds teaching a wonderful experience.

Chris Harold

Licensed in 2011, we are fortunate to have Chris teaching at our Tri-Cities locations after living in Canada for much of his life. He has a degree in chemisty and enjoys camping, hunting, and hiking. Eager to help new drivers, Chris strives to make each driver the best they can be.

Sheldon Homer

A small business owner himself, Sheldon has been a life-long resident of the Tri-Cities. He enjoys teaching students and looks forward to teaching his own children how to drive. His other interests include golf, spending time with family, computers, and electronics.

Alicia Jakeman

With a voice and personality developed during 5 years of radio broadcasting, Alicia creates a class environment that is engaging and brings home powerful messages about safety. She has been enjoying the enthusiasm of new drivers at Parkside since 2006 and is closely related to two other instructors in the Yakima location. Alicia is an avid reader, plays the piano, and has been to a McDonald's in five different countries.

Eli Jakeman

Eli started teaching driver education with Parkside in 2007 and is continually amazed at the growth he sees in students from the beginning of the course to the end. We are fortunate to have his teaching expertise in our Yakima location and you will find he enjoys getting to know each student personally. He is involved in the community as a leader for a local Boy Scout troop and enjoys photography, model airplanes, and reading (especially military history).

Michelle McLeod

With over 10 years of experience as a school bus driver, Michelle has spent thousands of hours on local roads. She has also been a driver for Dial-A-Ride and tour busses. Licensed as a driving instructor in 2009, her students recognize her sense of humor and friendly demeanor. Although currently working her way towards a degree in Social Psychology, Michelle also finds time to enjoy sharing breakfast or lunch with friends, walking, and painting.

Lynn has a passion for cars and how to control them. He is the President of a local sports car club (Sand and Sage Sports Car Club), and enjoys regularly competing in precision driving events. Lynn has discovered the joy of being behind the wheel, and really likes helping drivers of all skill levels discover that same enjoyment.
