Instructors

Our instructors:

•   Believe in student success.
•   Have a thorough knowledge of the road laws and driving techniques.
•   Teach practical and theoretical driving skills.
•   Are friendly, mature and responsible.
•   Provide students with ideas for improving driving skills.
•   Explain the basic mechanical working of a vehicle.
•   Have advanced driving skills, excellent communication skills, and rapid decision-making skills.

Mike Carlson

Mike holds a teaching certificate in Business Education as well as teaching driver education and serving as an instructor trainer. He teaches at an alternative school and works mostly in the Richland and KiBe Classes.

Leo Roberts

Leo retired from grocery store ownership and has put his traveling on hold to teach in the Yakima Class.

Ben Archibald

Ben studied driver education and health sciences at Brigham Young University and enjoys seeing students improve as they develop their understanding and driving skills. A caring, patient instructor, Ben strives to help each student succeed in the classroom and behind the wheel. When he's not teaching from our Richland classroom he enjoys spending time with his wife and triplet daughters and playing football.

Joe Meyer

Joe is in the final stages of an elementary certification through Heritage University. As a Tri-City native, he has a personal passion for student success and positive learning experience.

Craig Haueter

With over ten years in automotive service, Craig has lived in the Tri-Cities for twenty-four years and had extensive experience working in youth programs.

Alicia Jakeman

With a voice and personality developed in radio broadcasting, Alicia creates a class environment that is engaging and brings home powerful messages about safety.

Ashley Hammond

Graduated as a WSU Cougar with a BA in Advertising and Buisness and moved to Yakima in early 2005 with her husband and daughter. Ashley is great at working with teens and finds teaching a wonderful experience.

John Wildschut

Following a career working with youth at risk through Job Corps and youth ranches, John has developed a patient wisdom and positive humor for driver training.

Chuck Burger

Completing his education degree at Central Washington University, Chuck joins the team with the energy and insight of a master teacher.
